About

In case anyone is reading this, I ran into some issues (personal, work, life, hardware, etc.) shortly after my last blog post, so had to (yet again) ignore all things astrojargony (both EOS and astronomy stuff) for a while.

The good news is that I think I've gotten things to the point that I can start spending a little time on this stuff, but I'm a bit backed up.

If you've sent me an e-mail in the past 6 months or so, I apologize for the delayed response, beg your pardon, and thank you for your patience.  I'm going to start wading through them and responding over the next week or two.

The original idea behind this site was to be a sort of glossary as I learned astronomy and astrophotography. The jargon surrounding the hobbies can be somewhat overwhelming, and I thought that by writing up definitions for some of the baffling words I came across in my journey, I could help others - as I helped myself remember.

Well, over the past year and a few months, this site has mainly served as a repository for sharing some of my astrophotos with friends and family. More recently it has become home for some tools I've developed. I finally have circled around to implementing a feature I'm calling the "Word of the Day" which is my interpretation of an astronomy or astrophotography term. In fact, the first two terms I've defined are astronomy and astrophotography.

The current WOTD will be appear on the home page. All the Words can be accessed at http://astrojargon.net/Words

While astronomy was my WOTD for several months, I'm hoping to keep up with this on a regular, if not daily basis. Eventually, I hope to flesh it out into a useful glossary. I hope that others will read and benefit from my somewhat eclectic "definitions" of buzzwords, technical terms, and acronyms relating to astronomy and astrophotography - in other words, astrojargon.
